Good News Taxis

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.”

Vision: Our vision is to reach the minibus taxi drivers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through giving them Cd’s containing preaching and music. This is done through workers visiting the taxi ranks to distribute the material to them. By encouraging the drivers to play the Cd’s, potentially millions of passengers will hear and be able to respond to the salvation message.

The Audience: Currently, there are estimated to be about 160 000 minibus taxis on the roads in South Africa. This is a vital sector of the public transport industry, as the accessibility and convenience of taxis far outweighs that of trains and buses.
Approximately 16 passengers are conveyed in a minibus and a recapitalisation plan is underway to replace old taxis with new 22 seater vans in S.A. A conservative calculation of the number of passengers conveyed on any one day in S.A., would be two and a half million people.

HOW WILL THEY KNOW JESUS?


	Good News Taxi workers personally contact taxi drivers at taxi ranks and gives them Cd’s. Driver plays CD in his taxi. Passengers hear the message. Passengers or drivers SMS Good News Taxi at 072-153-2993 GNT workers pray for prayer requests, lead people to the Lord, refer people to local churches, connect people to free Bible Study course.

IMPACTING AN INDUSTRY AND NATIONS

This is a highly relevant ministry as the transport industry is often in the spotlight. Even the last Confederation Soccer cup received its biggest criticism regarding the transport and how it needs to be improved. We believe that the Gospel will make an eternal impact on the lives of the drivers and passengers and will thus circle out to other road users and society in general.


	EASTER PROJECT Volunteer teams man petrol stations and give out Cd’s and sticke bumper stickers on taxis as they refuel at the stations. The Thursday before the Easter weekend is very busy on the national roads in South Africa as thousands of people use the time to attend church meetings or to go on holiday. CD’s used are specially created by GNT for use in the taxis. Music and short preaching/scripture /prayer. Reinhard Bonnke preaching with interpretation into various local languages. Bumper stickers indicating the SMS number for contacting us re any further information and spiritual needs.
